Aim
To define precipitation erosion classes in Denmark based on observations, and demonstrate an assessment method for the ‘precipitation erosion climate’ at global scale.
Method
Erosion classes will be defined based on precipitation data from DMI radar network and several disdrometers measuring rain drop sizes during 1 year. The disdrometers will be installed early in the project. Data will be correlated with observed leading edge erosion at selected wind farms. For global sites, the analysis will be based on precipitation data from observational networks and satellite data using few selected sites where leading edge erosion can be correlated in contrasting environments. Rain drop sizes and hail is investigated using historical data from the DMI meteorological station network, disdrometer data and radars. This should enable suitable data for WP2, WP3 and WP4.
